Sun Mountain Mosaics is located in an adobe studio in Santa Fe’s historic Eastside, within walking distance of the galleries on Canyon Road. The property's dwellings were amongst the first studio residences to be built on Camino del Monte Sol and were handcrafted by the owner, painter and carpenter, William Pendhalow Henderson in the 1920s. The buildings have historic designation by the National Register of Historic Places and were pioneering models of the Spanish Pueblo Revival movement. The studio’s interior architecture is notable and revered, particularly for its one foot diameter wood posts, deep exposed lintels, grand fireplace, hand carved adze beams and groupings of casement windows into horizon bands.

The grounds and gardens surrounding the studio are a green refuge. Over one acre, the land is graced with mature ponderosa pines, spruces, junipers, pinon pines and a variety of fruit trees. The perennial and wildflower gardens are a rejuvenating place to stroll during a stretch break during mosaics and are a source of natural inspiration. The low stone walls meandering throughout the property join the various enclaves together seamlessly.

The 100-year-old, restored, adobe architecture, coupled with lush gardens, provides visitors and artists an ideal environment to explore and tap into their artfulness while creating at Sun Mountain Mosaics.
